The main consideration in formulating introverts’ stress management techniques is that stress is not inescapable. Stressors may be inescapable, but stress is nothing more than your response to those stressors. Everyone, including the introvert, excels at stress management when responses to stress become controlled and positive.

I’m not sure if this is a comment, or if it goes directly to someone but heres the thing. Either way im hoping i might be able to get some help from someone.
As a person i would definetly define myself as an introvert, and i have a hard time dealing with stress that comes from my family, work, and esspecially now that im in college, school. I find myself not just putting off the stressful situations, but forgetting them altogether. I’m SURE this is not a good way to deal with it.
One of my parents have a very negative way of dealing with their stress, which i understand, but being an only child, i feel like alot of this negativity comes out on me, and I feel like its adding onto my stress. This I feel like is causeing a cycle of stress, that revolves between me and the parent. Im not really sure what im asking, im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as what i can do. I would like to not only deal with the anxiety that i feel, but also reduce the anxiety that the whole family is feeling as a result.

In what ways have you tried to cope with the stressful situations with your parent so far? I did not have an easy time growing up myself since I’m an eldest child and had quite a bit of expectation on my shoulders.
One strategy I would like to suggest is to just listen whenever the parent starts to become argumentative or confrontational again. Just stay peaceful and don’t try to cut in midway through the tirade. Don’t try to correct anything even if you feel falsely accused. If you can, agree whenever you can. Arguing back adds fuel to fire, but if you try to sympathise or empathise, you might just be able to turn the heat down a little.
